Two long-serving Travis Perkins colleagues are celebrating three decades with the UK’s largest builders’ merchant.

Dan Storer, Regional Director for Birmingham and the West Midlands, and Dave Stretton, Regional Director for Cambridgeshire and Suffolk, began their careers with Travis Perkins on the same day, joining the business' Management Training Programme, which has recently relaunched, back in September 1996.

After completing the Higher National Diploma they continued their progression through the business having almost symmetrical career paths. First they took on Assistant Branch Manager roles before they went on to spend more than 20 years between them as heads of various Travis Perkins branches.

Both were then promoted to Regional Directors in 2014 and they have spent more than a decade in their current positions.

Storer said: "I feel incredibly proud to say that I have spent the last three decades with Travis Perkins. The business has changed so much throughout my time. There were far fewer branches when I started and now there are more than 500 across the business.

"I have worked across all aspects of the company throughout my career, but at the very heartbeat of Travis Perkins' colleagues, customers and suppliers is a family feeling, and that has stayed with me. It is a great place to work, and I am one of those lucky people who can honestly say that they love their job."

Stretton said: "I wasn't sure what it was that I wanted to do when I left school but I can really say that joining the apprenticeship programme with Travis Perkins was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I met some great people during that programme and then throughout my time and the support from the business to enable us to move up through the ranks has been great.

"We put our customers and our colleagues first and that is one of the reasons I love working for the business. The time has flown by but it is something I will look back on as a proud achievement."
