Independent family-owned German chemicals and coatings company Remmers Group has completed its acquisition of Rustins Group.

Rustins, a long-established brand founded in 1924 in London, offers wood finishes, speciality paints and cleaners including Rustins, Briwax, Brummer and Lord Sheraton brands for DIY enthusiasts, professional tradespeople and households. Remmers has been represented in the UK with a focus on coating systems for industrial flooring and paints and varnishes for industrial wood processing. Both business areas are aimed at professional applicators with high technical requirements, so Rustins is an addition that complements Remmers' existing activities.

Remmers has plans to further develop Rustins' established market position, longstanding trade and distribution partnerships, and the complementary product portfolios of both companies. This will allow both companies to contribute their respective strengths, tap into new customer groups, and cater to customers and trade partners with a more comprehensive range of products.

Dirk Sieverding, CEO of the Remmers Group SE, said: "We have long been a reliable partner in the UK for specialist floor installers and the industrial timber processing sector. What we were missing was access to DIY enthusiasts, painters and the household retail sector.

"Rustins has exactly that – a brand established for over a hundred years, a product range and a retail distribution network that do not overlap with our existing UK business but complement it. That is why Rustins is such a good fit for the Remmers Group."

Following the completion of the transaction, the Rustins Group is now wholly owned by the Remmers Group. The acquisition comprises the purchase of all shares in Rustins Holdings Limited, including the operating company Rustins Limited.
