After seven years her predecessor moves into a new production design role within the team.

Builders' Merchants News has made a change to its editorial team with the appointment of Ali Emm.

Emm has replaced Deputy Editor Nicolas Chinardet, who is leaving to take a new role within the Hemming Group, owner of BMN.

Emm started her career at a Nottingham culture magazine that focused on music, film, art and the history of the city. Since then she has worked at Thomson Reuters, the NHS, and, for a short period, as Deputy Editor at BMN's former sister publication HVP Magazine

Commenting on her appointment, Emm said: "BMN is an established and trusted independent voice for the sector, so I'm delighted to be taking on the Deputy Editor role. At 50 years strong, it's an exciting time to become a part of the BMN team as it enters its golden years. I very much look forward to seeing how the building sector, and BMN, grow and develop in the coming years."

BMN Editor Tim Wood added: "I am delighted that Ali has joined BMN. Being based in Nottingham will enable her play a valuable role in strengthening BMN's coverage in the north of England. Being a digital-first publication means that there is so much more to Ali's role than just being Deputy Editor on BMN and she is well qualified to take on all the responsibility that comes with being the industry's leading trade magazine. I would like to thank Nicolas for all his hard work on the title and look forward to seeing his creativity across the ever evolving BMN portfolio."

Chinardet is leaving after seven years to take on a new role as Production Designer within the group's production team. As well as continuing his work as designer for BMN and the Awards, Chinardet will be working on a variety of projects and publications across the Hemming portfolio.
