Industry veteran James Jackson has been appointed as Director of a new, expanded branch of pipeline, heating and HVAC distributor, BSS Ireland in Dublin.
Jackson has over 20 years of experience and has developed a unique combination of knowledge in both the HVAC and mechanical sectors. He has held a range of roles, across engineering, to technical sales, business development and branch management and will lead activity at the new Dublin branch.
The new 36,134 sq ft branch on Airton Road in the Tallaght area of Dublin will feature a greatly expanded range of stock, and will have an on-site training room for use by both staff and customers. All current BSS colleagues will transfer from the existing branch in the city's Saint James area.
The new branch will include the first co-location with air conditioning wholesale business, TF Solutions. Both part of the Travis Perkins Group, this is the first time the businesses will operate from the same location in the Republic of Ireland.
Jackson said: "This new branch represents a market leading proposition for customers within the Irish market, a wholesale business with unrivalled experience, market leading delivery capabilities and a full basket of products that can fulfil mechanical, AC and plumbing requirements from a single location.
"BSS has been operating in the Republic of Ireland for 82 years and we've developed a really strong reputation as a trusted and reliable wholesaler. However, the market is changing rapidly and we're seeing a lot more crossover between sectors, so this feels like exactly the right time to introduce TF Solutions to the market."
The branch will feature dedicated trade counters and staff for each company and will operate a shared fleet of delivery vehicles, fulfilling orders to customers across the country. BSS Dublin will also continue to be the home of industrial valve specialist, Peglar & Louden, building on their 22 years supporting the Irish industrial sector.
Jackson said: "With the ongoing impacts of climate change and the drive towards decarbonisation, we're seeing significant growth in the delivery of low GWP heat pumps which require a combination of mechanical and AC skills to design, specify, commission and support. There is definitely an opportunity to grow and develop this market and we want to make sure we're ready to service the increased demand we are seeing."
Josie Crowe, Managing Director, BSS, said: "It's rare to find someone with James's experience in both the mechanical and air conditioning sectors and we feel that he's going to be a fantastic addition to the team.
"With these industries continuing to work more and more closely together, it makes absolute sense for us to co-locate BSS and TF Solutions in this branch, providing a convenient, one-stop-shop for customers working in these areas."
The new branch will be open for business from mid-January 2027.
