TrustMark, the government-endorsed quality scheme for home improvements, has announced the appointment of Guy Thompson to its Chief Executive Officer role.

Thompson will join the organisation on 2 November, working alongside Simon Ayers, MBE to enable a smooth transition as Ayers moves into retirement.

Thompson brings extensive leadership experience across the private, public and voluntary sectors including regulated public-private markets and the built environment. With his background in policy development, market governance and assurance and ensuring that quality, trust and consumer protection are embedded in essential services markets, his experience will be invaluable in helping to reduce consumer detriment across home improvements.

Chris Pond, Chair at TrustMark, said: "I'm delighted to welcome Guy to TrustMark and the Board and I are very much looking forward to working with him. Guy is joining TrustMark at a time when our industry faces new challenges and much-needed change in order to deliver the levels of consumer protection required. I'm confident that his experience, knowledge and focus will enable TrustMark to meet those challenges and be a valuable part of the change required."

Guy Thompson said: "TrustMark plays a vital role in protecting consumers and strengthening confidence in the home improvement and retrofit sector. I'm very much looking forward to working with the TrustMark team, our Scheme Providers, government and industry partners to build on that foundation and ensure TrustMark is equipped for the challenges ahead.

"Across my career, I've focused on improving standards, modernising assurance systems and delivering public value in complex, regulated environments. There is deep expertise and commitment within TrustMark, and I'm excited to work with the team to create long term, positive impact for consumers, businesses and the wider built environment."
