LONDON: Kingspan Group has won the 2009 Britain's Most Admired Company award in the 'Building Materials and Merchants' category. This is the second consecutive year that the Irish company has won the award.

The BMAC awards, the UK's longest-running scheme is now in its 18th year. Winners are chosen from their rival peer groups and City of London investment analysts.

Over 230 companies across the UK and Ireland were assessed for the awards this year, which is run by Management Today magazine.

Companies are judged on nine key criteria: quality of management; financial soundness; quality of goods and services; ability to attract, develop and retain top talent; value as a long-term investment; capacity to innovate; quality of marketing; community and environmental responsibility and use of corporate assets.

Dermot Mulvihill, Kingspan's group finance director, received the award on behalf of the group from Lord Heseltine, chairman of Haymarket Group, publishers of the magazine, at Claridges Hotel in London last night.

"This prestigious award is a tribute to the dedication of staff and management at Kingspan. These are trying times for the industry in general, but we believe those companies that remain committed to innovation and quality will be rewarded," said Mr Mulvihill.
