BURTON-ON-TRENT: An independent test carried out on Spax-D Wirox coated decking screws has proven that the corrosion resistance of the product out-performs competitor offerings.
In August 2012, Burton-on-Trent-based ESG Ltd carried out the testing on behalf of Spax UK, comparing its Spax-D Wirox coated decking screw against those from four competitors.
Salt spray tests conducted concluded that competitive products showed greater corrosion than the Spax-D after the same period of testing, confirming the superior quality of the Spax-D Wirox coated screw.
The protective coating on the Spax-D Wirox decking screw is accredited with corrosivity category C4 classification giving the product an estimated working life of 15 years.
The 4.5mm x 60mm Spax-D WIROX decking screws are available in packs of 250pcs or 500pcs. The screw features a small cylindrical head that allows fixing into the groove of the deck board, countersinking easily and providing a superb finished appearance. Ground serrations on the lower thread remove a need to pre-drill and prevents splitting or splintering. The non-threaded shank pulls the deck board down tight with the upper thread locking the board securely. The screw features a T-Star Plus head which aids a firm bit hold and prevents slipping. Both pack types include a free T20 bit.
While other companies have migrated to low-wage countries, Spax-D continues to manufacture in Germany at the Spax International GmbH & Co facilities, focusing on producing products of uncompromised quality with constant availability.
