The South West builders' merchant has opened its fifth dedicated plumbing and heating branch, supporting growing demand for specialist products and renewable heating solutions in North Devon.
Bradfords Building Supplies, the leading South West-based builders' merchant, has opened a new standalone branch in Barnstaple, bringing dedicated expertise, leading brands and sustainable heating solutions to customers across North Devon.
The new branch, which officially opened on 7 September 2026, marks a significant milestone in Bradfords' growth strategy and the business now operates five dedicated plumbing and heating branches across the region.
Barnstaple was identified as a key location due to the strength of the local plumbing and heating market, growing demand for specialist products and technical support, and the opportunity to better serve installers and contractors throughout North Devon.
Customers visiting the branch will have access to a comprehensive range of plumbing, heating and bathroom products from many of the industry's leading manufacturers. The site has been designed to support installers, contractors and homeowners alike, combining product availability with specialist advice and technical expertise.
A key feature of the new branch is its Daikin Sustainable Home Centre, providing a dedicated showroom where homeowners and installers can explore the latest heat pump technology and learn more about low-carbon heating solutions.
The facility will also offer Daikin Level 1 Installer Training, helping heating professionals develop their knowledge of heat pump installation and gain a greater understanding of the growing market for renewable heating systems.
Luke Smith, Trading Director for Plumbing & Heating at Bradfords, said: "North Devon is home to a thriving community of installers and contractors, and we've seen a real demand for greater access to specialist products, expertise and training in the area. Opening in Barnstaple allows us to be closer to those customers and provide the support they need to grow their businesses.
"The industry is evolving quickly, particularly as interest in low-carbon heating solutions continues to increase. Alongside our core plumbing and heating offer, we're also giving installers the opportunity to learn more about technologies such as heat pumps and develop new skills that will help them stay ahead of changing customer requirements."
David Young, Chief Executive Officer of Bradfords Building Supplies, added: "We've been serving communities across the South West for more than 250 years, and our approach has always been to invest where we can make the biggest difference for customers. Barnstaple is another example of that commitment.
"As our plumbing and heating business continues to grow, we're focused on creating destinations that combine great products, specialist knowledge and practical support for local tradespeople."
