The Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) has issued a reminder to merchants and building materials suppliers seeking funding for staff to take the popular Level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeship programme.

Following the government's decision to withdraw funding from the Level 3 course, the final deadline to sign up members of staff for the funded delivery of this Apprenticeship through the BMF is 17 July.

The Level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeship programme is popular with BMF members because it supports colleagues who are either new to management or working towards their first leadership role. Delivered by LEAP, a provider with deep knowledge of the building materials sector, the programme is far more relevant to the day-to-day realities of merchant businesses, helping participants develop the practical skills needed to lead people and perform effectively in a management role.

However, after July 17, with the government redirecting apprenticeship funding to support young people on entry-level programmes, merchants and suppliers will no longer have access to the Level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeship through the BMF.

John Newcomb, BMF CEO advised: "With the deadline for applications fast approaching, building materials businesses with colleagues ready to step into management or looking to strengthen their leadership capability must act immediately to take advantage of the BMF's final funded programme."
