Horncastle-based Polypipe Civils & Green Urbanisation, is expanding its manufacturing team to meet growing demand for sustainable products and technologies that are helping both the construction industry tackle climate change and the country meet its carbon net-zero ambitions.

Across the business there are a wealth of roles available for machine operators, general operatives and maintenance engineers.

Amongst Polypipe’s many products is a range of ground breaking drainage systems that help minimise the impact of extreme weather events, which are becoming more frequent as the climate changes. The company plans to build further on this range and extend its state-of-the-art facilities, which include an on-site recycling plant that re-processes waste plastic, turning it into an engineered product with an operating life of over 100 years.

Polypipe Horncastle opened in 1979.  Its site now covers 29 acres and employs more than 300 people.  Andrew Janney, operations director, said: “The construction industry is changing.  The move to sustainable practices is driving demand for innovative products that can help tackle climate change and improve the urban landscape.

“We’re seeking people who are as actively passionate as we are about finding new ways to meet this challenge head on. You don’t need a wealth of qualifications under your belt to make a difference; what we’re looking for is people who are interested in how things work, who have a mechanical mind and who are natural problem solvers.”

Additionally, Polypipe says the wealth of new jobs it is making available in the area will support the local community to bounce back from the effects of the pandemic.

Janney added: “Following a very challenging 18 months for us all, there will be many who are keen to carve a new career path in an exciting and growing industry.  We also really take care of our people, offering them a range of attractive benefits such as share-save – we are a listed company – a cycle to work scheme and an employee network benefits platform with retail, food and holiday offers.”
